The veteran M.S.Sathyu’s ‘Ijjodu’ starring national award winning actress of South India Meera Jasmine and talented Anirudh Jatakara (son in law of Dr Vishnuvaradhan) is all set for release on April 30 after making entry into four prestigious domestic film festivals. Reliance Big Pictures is releasing the film that takes strong stand against the existing Devadasi system in Yellamma community in Karnataka.

After twelve long years the prolific director with meaningful films to his credit, Mysore Shrinivas Sathyu has directed this film that has already got the critical acclaim. The Photo journalist Anand meets Chenni who is offered to a village goddess. Chenni belongs to Devadasi community and after offering to the Goddess they are treated as sex workers. This is a blind faith and the story narrated by the director brings change in the life of Chenni forever.

‘Ijjodu’ not only marks the return of the director of high caliber but explores the social practice that has been banned. Reliance Big Pictures is proud to associate with project says Sanjeev Lamba, CEO of Reliance Big Pictures. This is the first venture of Reliance Big Pictures in Kannada film industry.

Meera Jasmine plays the role of Chenni and Anirudh Jatkar is the male protagonist. The film has Manikanth Khadri’s music and GS Bhasker’s camera expertise.
